Your Life Doesn't Need Fixing, Just Creating

In his book, Taking Life Head On!, Hal Elrod, shares a bit of wisdom, “Love the life you have while you create the life of your dreams. Don't think you have to choose one over the other.” When I read those words, they really resonated with me. We do not have to be at odds with who we are today in order for us to embark on a better tomorrow. We do not need to feel we are less than, broken, damaged, and in need of repair just because there are parts of ourselves we want to refine or create entirely.

When we take on the mindset that we are the product of a lot of experiences, growth, and overcoming, we are able to embrace where we are. We are able to show up as the person we are through love and compassion, while we simultaneously make the choice to embrace a path of yet more experiences, growth and overcoming.

We tend to get in a mindset that we need to FIX ourselves. We are not a thing in need of fixing. We are living, evolving, natural beings and we are in a process of growth. What we grow is entirely up to us. We are creators. We get the distinct honor of being able to create the very being we want to be. We hold all of that power.

If you have a desire to be healthier, then you simply need to create a life for yourself that results in a healthier you. You are not broken because you are not living a life that reflects your desire to be more healthy. You simply need to carve out 15-30 minutes a day to add a new healthier habit like a 30 minute walk or try a healthier meal option once a day, or perhaps meditate for 10 minutes a day. If you do any of these things, you are creating a life that will result in a healthier you.

This applies to any aspect of yourself. You feel frumpy and outdated but do not know where to start? Start simple. Get a sexy new bra or a pair of fun socks. Buy a new scarf or accessory. You do not have to do an entire wardrobe makeover, just slowly replace the old with something new that inspires you. Before you know it, you will be looking in the mirror at someone wearing a wardrobe that resembles the new you. You did not need fixed. You needed inspired.

You are the author of your story, the artist who paints the canvas that is your life. You and only you are responsible for the work of art that is you. Pick up the pen, paintbrush, glue sticks and glitter... what ever it is that is going to make you smile and feel alive. Create a magnificent, beautiful you.
